Burnham Grammar School recently brought holiday cheer to the local elderly community by hosting a heartwarming Senior Citizens Christmas Party. The event, overseen by Mrs Hudson and organised by Sixth Form students and staff, transformed the school into a festive haven with a fun schedule that set a joyful atmosphere.
Christmas-themed decorations, twinkling fairy lights, and handcrafted centerpieces by the school’s Year 8s and Design & Technology department, traditional Christmas trees and our own two Santa Clauses were all key parts for the school’s event.
The festivities began with an introduction from the Head Students, followed by some performances from the Music and Drama department, Christmas hymn singing and contemporary ballet. Guests were then treated to a delicious lunch and dessert, served by the students, who displayed exemplary hospitality.
A highlight of the event was the sing-along sessions of classic Christmas carols. With joyful melodies filling the air, both students and the guests were up on their feet dancing along to the spirited music. Adding an extra element of surprise to the event was the raffle, where lucky winners took home delightful surprises, ranging from waffle blankets and wine, to large hampers of makeup and Christmas goods.
To end the day, every guest was treated with a box filled with surprise presents created by all the students to ensure that each person did not leave the event empty handed, spreading smiles across everyone's faces. For many of the guests, this gathering was a chance for them to engage socially and celebrate the season in the welcoming environment of Burnham Grammar School.
The event showcased the schools’ values of being an active citizen and a caring individual, overall promoting a sense of goodness and festive cheer to the community. The Burnham Grammar School Senior Citizens Christmas Party was undoubtedly a resounding success, leaving everyone in the spirit for the Christmas holidays.
