A Successful Year 10 Work Experience Week 2024!

8 Jul 2024

Last week, our Year 10 cohort took part in their Annual Year 10 Work Experience Week. Students took part in various activities from Wednesday 3rd July - Friday 5th July 2024, introducing them to careers, pathways and industries to explore Post 16/18.

On Wednesday 3rd July, we were visited by Royal Holloway University and our students took part in a year group encounter. This was then followed by a Mock Interview and Carousel Careers Session with some fantastic parent volunteers from our BGS Community. Students were able to practise their interview techniques with professionals and also ask in depth questions about particular careers.

On Thursday 4th July, students either took part in a placement day at a chosen workplace, or visited the Henkel Head Offices in Hemel Hempstead. As a school, Henkel have supported us for a number of years for our Careers Programme, and some of our cohort were lucky to visit and listen to talks and workshops by their employees. It was a wonderful experience for all of our students involved.

On Friday 5th July, we were visited by University of Surrey and our students took part in a further year group encounter. This was followed by a Degree Apprenticeship Focus Session by ADVIZA.

We then welcomed back x6 Guest Alumni Speakers back to BGS to deliver workshops to our students about their profession and the industries they work within. We had Alumni representatives in Engineering, Veterniary Medicine, Journalism, Account Management, Humanitarian Resetlement & a Commercial Airline Pilot.

Our students had a fantastic week and it was a great opportunity for them to learn about different careers, pathways and industries available to explore Post 16/18. Thankyou to all that were involved in this week.
